Miyazaki Records in Mono and Uses Vinyl Track in The Wind Has Risen | The Asahi Shimbun


“Kaze Tachinu” was also recorded in mono sound instead of stereo. The mono sound reflects the era, but Miyazaki says he actually had another reason for using it.

“The sound became richer as a result,” he says. “But I now know that it takes a lot of work to record monaurally.”

The theme song “Hikokigumo” (Vapor trail) by Yumi Arai, which is played at the end of the film, also comes from a vinyl record.
